Good News everyone. 😀 I had totally forgotten to let everyone know about the new design updates! UGH! So without further ado, I give you outlines! Outlines you say? Outlines! What does that even mean?
When I first started designing the bikes, I had this idea of not using any outlines to define their look. I got inspired by a fellow rider who had done a similar design on his bike. But then I realized that this limited the colors I could use for the shirts with the bike designs. It became a problem when a client wanted a custom design on a black shirt. They tried to outline the design themselves, but it didn’t turn out great in my opinion. I also noticed that a competitor started using a thin white outline for their designs.
So, armed with this information, I decided to update my original art to make it work on darker colors too. It took a lot of trial and error, but I finally came up with a new outlined look that made the design stand out more. I also made some small tweaks to improve the flow of the designs. After that, I started updating all the shirts in the store and adding new color options.
Right now, I have updated a total of 34 bikes. In addition to updating the bike designs, I also decided to add more fun designs and recreate vintage logos. One example is my take on the old Honda ad “You meet the nicest people on a moped.” I wasn’t completely satisfied with the original, so I believed I could do it better. I am pretty happy with this new version and even some Japanese to better match the original AD.
Remastering these new designs has been a lot of fun and it has inspired me to come up with even more exciting ideas. However, I’m always open to hearing ideas from the community too. If you have a design idea or a bike that you don’t see available, please feel free to reach out and make a suggestion. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
